Las Vegas residents have spoken and the results to the city-wide "Best Pick-Up Spots" search are in with their favorite hang-outs, go-to stores or must visit locations in eight
different categories:
* KVVU/Fox 5: Best place to pick up weather and news updates
* Pizza Hut: Best place to pick up a carryout meal
* Big 5 Sporting Goods: Best place to pick up sporting or outdoor
equipment and gear
* Home Depot: Best place to pick up manly tools
* Buffalo Wild Wings: Best place to pick up the big game or race on TV
* Starbucks: Best place to pick up a cup of "Joe" and the paper
* Victoria's Secret: Best place to pick up gifts to impress your
significant other
* MGM Grand: Best place to pick up a casino gambling game
Beginning Feb. 12, 2005, "Best Pick-Up Spot" nominations were collected online at http://www.dodgepickupspots.com and 9 EB Games Stores (Electronics Boutique Holdings Corp.) located throughout the Las Vegas metropolitan area. On March 12, winning spots were announced at an open-to-the-public event at the EB Games store at the Galleria at Sunset and awarded an official "Best Pick-Up Spot" plaque.
"Some of the best city guides or tips usually come from an insider, so we've asked people who live in the Las Vegas area to share their best places to pick up everyday items," said Fred Diaz, Director Dodge Communications, Chrysler Group. "These 'Best Pick-Up Spots' are the best in their class, a status shared with Dodge Dakota, America's largest, most powerful mid-size pickup truck."
Upon submitting a pick-up spot nomination, consumers' names were entered in a drawing for a chance to receive one of 40 keys that could start a new 2005 Dodge Dakota. Diane Jasko of Las Vegas, Nev. held the winning key that started a new Dodge Dakota Quad Cab Laramie 4x4 pickup truck, the ultimate pickup to transport her to all his favorite pick-up spots. The other key- holding contestants were rewarded Dodge Affiliate Rewards to use toward the
purchase of a 2005 Dodge Dakota.
"The moment I felt the key turn smoothly in the ignition, I knew I was about to hear the engine start," said Jasko, the winner of the "Pick-Up Spots" key turning contest and proud new owner of a 2005 Dodge Dakota. "Now whether I'm picking up coffee or carryout, I'll get there in style in my new Dodge Dakota pickup."
During the event, visitors also took part in a giant game of 6-foot-5-inch Pick-Up-Sticks and received prizes that included free EB Games coupons andDodge merchandise.
Las Vegas is one of ten cities where Dodge is conducting the "Best Pick-Up
Spots" search. Other cities where the contest will take place are: Portland,
Ore., Tampa, Fla., Orlando, Fla., Sacramento, Calif., San Diego, Dallas,
Houston, Phoenix and Seattle.
